Director of Radiation Oncology
Dr. Michael David Smith is the Director of Radiation Oncology at MC Radiation Oncology, Nicklaus Children’s Hospital. Dr. Smith received his Doctorate in Medicine from Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was a Resident in Radiation Oncology at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. From there he was appointed as Assistant Professor of Radiation Oncology on the faculty at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. While at Vanderbilt, Dr. Smith contributed to the design and performance of several nationwide clinical trails involving a number of different Pediatric Cancer types. At Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, Dr. Smith is an active member of the Pediatric Oncology Multimodality Tumor Board and participates in the design of cancer therapy specifically for each individual patient’s unique cancer diagnosis. Dr. Smith is Board Certified in Radiation Oncology by the American Board of Radiology.
While not practicing Medicine, Dr. Smith is an avid Scuba diver and enjoys collecting antique Medical books and equipment.
Executive Medical Physics Associates (EMPA) was founded in 2008 by Xiaodong Wu, PhD, a medical physicist certified by American Board of Radiology, and the then professor and director of Medical Physics Division at the University of Miami Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center. Over the years, EMPA designed and commissioned a number of radiation therapy centers in South Florida and abroad.
Dr. Wu was also contracted by the Chinese government to establish the physics team to commission the Shanghai Proton and Heavy Ion Center (SPHIC), the first of its kind in Chinese, and one of the five similar centers in the world (currently not available in the US) in 2013. Dr. Wu is currently the director of R&D Department of SPHIC.
Over the years, EMAP has established its operation of medical physics services and consultation through contracts with a number of medical centers and radiation therapy facilities. The team consists of highly qualified therapeutic/diagnostic medical physicists and medical dosimetrists.
The founder of EMPA also founded the Biophysics Research Institute of America, Inc (BPRIA) in 2012 after leaving University of Miami. The focus of BPRIA is the development and implementation of cutting-edge technologies in clinical applications of cancer management. The founder currently serves as the chairman of NCI-sponsored physics focus group on clinical implementation of spatially and new temporal fractionated radiation therapy. EMPA is a primary sponsor of BPRIA and is supporting many clinical trials (RTOG, NRG) in the contracted radiation therapy centers.

Sui is a board-certified Radiation Therapist at MC Radiation Oncology Center. After finishing the radiologic technology program at Broward College, Sui decided to pursue a career as a Radiation Therapist and graduated with the highest honors in 2009. She has trained at various cancer centers such as the University of Miami Sylvester Cancer Center, Mount Sinai Medical Center, Orlando Health and JFK Medical Center and has been given many awards and recognitions for her exceptional work. She believes in serving and providing outstanding care with a compassionate and kind heart to those in need. With a vast knowledge on various treatments and technologies, she has received specialized training in the Radixact Treatment Delivery System, one of the latest and most precise treatment machines in South Florida.
Sui grew up in a multi-cultural family where she learned to speak Spanish, English and some Chinese. She loves to cook especially peruvian ceviche, do yoga, sing karaoke and spend time with her loved ones.

Florencia Reyes is a radiation therapist at MCROC and has been a licensed therapist since 2017. She’s a member of the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and American Society of Radiologic Technologists. She graduated with honors from Mayo Clinic Jacksonville, Florida as a Radiologic Technologist and earned her Associate’s of Science Degree in Radiography as well as her Radiation Therapy Certificate from Florida State College of Jacksonville, FL. Florencia’s passion of caring for others started in 2005 as a Patient Care Technician and from there she furthered her education and training in the medical field. Florencia has a warm manner and careful approach to her patients that makes her an excellent therapist. She enjoys all aspects of radiation oncology but has a passion for direct patient care during the radiation therapy treatment process.
In her free time Florencia loves her time at home with her family specially her husband and twin children. She enjoys family outings, cooking, furniture restoration and crafts.
Danzelle Hope’s introduction to health care began as a Biller where she ultimately managed the entire billing department at Capital Eye Consultants in Tallahassee, Florida. Danzelle earned her Associates in Business Administration from Tallahassee Community College. She then became certified in Medical Front Office and Billing through the National Health Association (NHA) and MACRA certified through the American Academy of Professional Coder (AAPC). She later moved on to teach Medical Front Office and Billing at Florida Career College where she trained students hands-on in medical terminology, front office practices, billing, and coding. Currently, she’s pursuing her professional coding certification with AAPC.
Danzelle has demonstrated success in the health care field as both a Biller and Collector for over 6 years. In that time, she has worked in single and multi-specialty practices, primary care groups of 6+ physicians, surgical groups and academic medical centers where she managed all billing operations. She has led with a very hands-on approach to the daily operations of these organizations and has developed proven strategies in the management of billing, personnel, budgeting, marketing, credentialing, accounts receivable, accounts payable and strategic planning.
Danzelle Hope’s expertise allows her to provide a wide range of financial services to our patients from insurance billing to private pay options. She’s dedicated and passionate about making sure our patients understand the financial process while in our care.

Angela De Rojas is a bilingual (English/Spanish) compassionate, motivated and highly detail oriented Medical Receptionist at MCROC. She was born and raised in Miami and is of Cuban and Colombian decent. Angela is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in communication at Florida International University Honors College, where she routinely makes the Dean’s List, but has worked in the health field for the past few years. She has been an administrative assistant at multiple offices with different specialties including Pediatrics and Family Medicine. Angela has also served as the Pre-Operative Clearance Scheduler for a facility in the past. She has worked closely with patients of all ages always making sure that their experience is exemplary from the moment they step through the facility door. Angela expresses that her desire to be around people and provide the best patient care is what drives every day.
